2003-01-11 & 7:36 a.m. : nobody does better than her, baby you're the best

i am watching the sun come up over seattle. it's been that perfect blue-silver for what seems like hours. the sun rises so late and sets so early, it's wonderful.

long sweet nights of quiet while i get used to my new city may just be what i need.

i took my brother to the airport this morning and it's amazing how different the goodbye was this time versus how i felt when he flew out of cedar rapids. i know i will see him in a couple of months when he is on spring break and i know that if i really have to i can drive down and see him.

this last week has been so much fun, it was exactly the kind of break between scenes that i needed to be able to start fresh here. kind of like "treefingers" on kid a, the drive out here served as an intermission between two important acts of the same piece.

jason is sleeping in the next room and the cats are still getting used to each other. stuart is bigger than the other two put together, so i think it's just a matter of them getting used to being around each other rather than any kind of struggle for power. he could, literally, eat them for breakfast.

poor little midget kitties.

well, now that my brother's gone i get to use an ar mattress rather than sleep on the floor, so i think i am going to take advantage of that now.

but first i'll open the windows so i can listen to the city as it wakes up.

i am so happy to be here.
